Two students from Don Bosco International High School, Mumbai, won five medals at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge 2026. Hrishikesh and Vedanshika Tulsian represented India among global participants. The Indian team also secured seventh position at the International Mathematical Olympiad 2026 with two gold and four silver medals.

Two students from Don Bosco International High School, Mumbai, have brought international recognition to India by securing a total of five medals at the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2026, an invitation-only global mathematics competition held in Singapore.

The winners, siblings Hrishikesh Abhinandan Tulsian, a Class VII student, and Vedanshika Abhinandan Tulsian, a Class III student, represented India at the prestigious competition, which witnessed participation from 2,285 students representing 40 countries and territories.

SIMOC 2026 featured the Individual Written Math Olympiad along with two team-based events, Maths Warriors and Math Master Mind, designed to evaluate participants’ mathematical abilities, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Hrishikesh Abhinandan Tulsian delivered an outstanding performance by winning three silver medals. He secured silver medals in the Individual Written Math Olympiad, Maths Warriors, and Math Master Mind categories, demonstrating consistency across both individual and collaborative competitions.

Separately, the Indian team recorded another significant achievement at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2026 held in Shanghai, China, winning two gold medals and four silver medals.

India secured an unofficial seventh position among 117 participating countries. The competition saw participation from 666 students, making it the largest International Mathematical Olympiad since its beginning in 1959.

The achievement continued India’s strong performance at the global mathematics competition. Since 2019, Indian teams have secured at least one gold medal in every edition except the 2020 Olympiad, when India did not participate due to the pandemic. Out of India’s 25 gold medals since its debut in 1989, 14 have been achieved in the last seven editions.

India’s seventh-place finish at IMO 2026 marked the fourth time the country has achieved this ranking, matching its previous performances in 1998, 2001, and 2025. India’s best-ever performance remains fourth place, achieved at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad in 2024.

This achievement also marked India’s fourth consecutive year among the top 10 countries at the IMO. Since its debut in 1989, India has recorded eight top-10 finishes in 36 appearances, excluding 2020 when it did not participate.

In the overall history of the International Mathematical Olympiad, India has won 25 gold medals, 80 silver medals, 80 bronze medals, and 29 honourable mentions.

The Indian medal winners at IMO 2026 included Aarav Gupta from Delhi and Abel George Mathew from Karnataka, who won gold medals. Bairav Murugan from Karnataka, Kanav Talwar from Delhi, Sanjana Philo Chacko from Kerala, and Shreya Shantanu Mundhada from Mumbai secured silver medals.

The achievements of the Mumbai students at SIMOC 2026 and the Indian team at IMO 2026 highlight the country’s growing strength in international mathematics competitions and the continued success of young Indian students on global platforms.
